Changes Effective October 1,2012

Due to decreases in Federal, State and local funding, Cascades East Transit is implementing both service and fare schedule changes effective October 1st.

Principles for the Changes:

  • Eliminate Services with the lowest demand:  Focus cuts on services that are being used the least, as evidenced by ride data, in order to maximize efficiency and provide service to the most riders.
  • Community and Rider Priority:  Attempt to maintain services that have been given high priority by communities and riders, as evidenced by survey findings, community meeting input, and existing planning documents.
  • Maximize ride logistics efficiency:  Focus on services where transit is the most efficient mobility option, optimize number of riders on the bus, and do not provide service where other, lower-cost options (e.g. carpooling, volunteer driver programs, etc.) may be more appropriate.
  •

The service changes listed below were reviewed by the Regional Public Transit Advisory Committee and approved by the COIC Board.

In addition, COIC is updating the published fare schedule to make it consistent with the actual, existing fare policy.
